Man pitches haunted house attraction on his property

A Franklin Township man wants to operate a haunted house attraction from his property several weekends in the fall.

Kory Rabenold told supervisors on Tuesday that he and his father built his home on 11 acres at 4005 Long Run Road.

Rabenold said he’s been involved in the haunted house industry for 18 years.

He said that last year he hosted a Halloween party and had well over 300 people attend.

Kory Rabenold Productions each year has a haunted float in area Halloween parades.

Mr. Pickles, played by Rabenold, and his band of carnies terrorize the crowds, with versions of their moving funhouse complete with trap doors and spooky crew.

“We tried not to do anything store bought. We had everyone pull out their own pieces for the carnies and tried to keep it as original as possible,” Rabenold said in an interview about the float.

Rabenold says he has been a Halloween enthusiast as long as he can remember.

The Rabenold also filmed zombie-esque movie featuring Mr. Pickles and his family of carnies.

Rabenold told supervisors he has a 50-by-80-foot pole barn on his property where they hosted the event.

“I’d like to put another small barn on the property for a haunted house and haunted woods,” Rabenold said.

Rabenold said he would host the events from 7-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays the last weekend in September through the first weekend in November.

“I definitely know it brings a lot of people to the township,” he said.

Rabenold added that potential future plans may include a Christmas Lane.

Supervisor Jason Frey suggested that Rabenold pitch his plan to the township’s zoning officer.

Board Chairman Fred Kemmerer told Rabenold he believes he has a solid plan in place.

“I personally think it’s a great idea,” Kemmerer said.
