Mr. and Mrs. William C. Newton of Lehighton will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on March 22.

The couple was married in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Weissport.

Mrs. Newton is the former Mayme Volkert, daughter of the late Charles and Mayme Volkert of Lehighton.

Mr. Newton is the son of the late William and Hilda Newton of Nesquehoning.

They have three children, Thomas Newton and his wife, Tracy, of Lehighton; Robert Newton and his wife, Kim, of Slatington and the late William “Clark” Newton.

They also have five grandchildren, Christopher Newton, Melissa Newton, Michael Newton, Keith Newton, Nicholas Newton; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Bell.

A family dinner is being held in the couple’s honor at Aca Mia Restaurant in Walnutport.
