Deadline nearing

The deadline is nearing for the Stanley Becker Memorial Scholarship for a graduating senior who is planning on attending college and majoring in an environmental field. To apply, students may print an application or apply online at www.mcconservation.org or call the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center at 570-629-3061.

Deadline for applications is April 1.

Concert ahead

The MJM7 Band will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at 6 p.m. March 27. No reservation is needed. A freewill donation will be accepted.

Craft/vendor fair

The West End Volunteer Fire Company will hold a craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9 at its primary site, 128 Route 715, Brodheadsville, (behind the Wawa).

Among the featured events and items are: spring crafts, jewelry, soap, pet items and much more.

Conservation camp

Announcement of the 2022 Conservation Camp has been made. It is open to students from 14 years old to this year’s high school graduates and provides young people with hands-on classroom and field instruction covering many aspects of natural resource conservation and management.

It will be held July 16 through July 23 at Stony Acres, a 119-acre Wildlife Sanctuary/Recreational Facility owned by the students of East Stroudsburg University in Marshalls Creek.

Campers will also have the opportunity to experience the Delaware River during a two-day overnight canoe trip. Programs covering river ecology, water quality, and history of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will be presented during this 26-mile river journey. Bald eagles, otters, deer and other wildlife have been observed on this trip. Another camp highlight is the confidence course where campers are challenged on a series of high ropes elements.
