Last week Lansford Borough Council approved the following:
• A 90-day extension to Billiter Electric, through June 14, to complete the downtown streetscaping project. Council also directed the borough road crew to dig up a section of the unit block of West Ridge Street so Billiter can fix a damaged electrical conduit.
• Special event permits for a 5K run, a food truck event for American Fire Co., an Easter Egg hunt for the Lansford Legion, and turkey dinner events for Friends of Lansford Recreation.
• The settlement of a grievance filed by a police officer.
• A special meeting will be held at an undetermined date to interview candidates for borough secretary.
• Authorized applications to the Monroe County Local Share Account for the purchase of the former Lehigh New England rail station ($60,000), new sidewalks on the north side of Kennedy Park ($100,000) and on behalf of the Lansford Historical Society, a new roof for the Welsh Church ($25,000).
• Approved Friends of Lansford Recreation, also known as Friends of the Lansford Pool, to hire and pay Joseph Hutta Plumbing to replace piping around the pool at a cost of $14,795.
