Woman injured in Route 309 crash

A woman was seriously injured late Wednesday afternoon when involved in a crash in West Penn Township. The accident occurred just after 5 p.m. as the female driver was heading north descending the north face of the Blue Mountain on a slush covered Route 309.

She went off the road and hit a tree. The victim was extricated from the wreckage by members of the West Penn fire and police. She was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center.
