The following were sentenced on DUI charges in Carbon County court by Judge Steven R. Serfass.
George Edward Roberts, 32, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.
He was arrested on Sept. 24, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI and also firearms not to be carried without a license. That charge, a felony 3, was dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.
He refused a test.
He was given credit for 24 days already served on the charge and paroled.
Keith S. McFarland, 42, of Slatington, was placed in the Restrictive Conditions of Probation program (house arrest) for six months with the first 30 days on electronic monitoring. He must also pay a fine of $750, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.
He was arrested on Aug. 7, 2021, by state police at Lehighton following a crash near Bowmanstown. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC.
James Meckes, 45, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 90 days to 60 months in prison, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render 100 hours of community service.
He was arrested on July 6, 2020, along White Street in Weissport by state police of Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.
He will begin serving the prison term at 9 a.m. on March 21 and serve it on consecutive two-day periods of Monday to Wednesday.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
