A driver was critically inured Sunday morning in a crash in West Penn Township.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. as he was traveling west on Route 443.
He lost control as he passed through the intersection with Spring Road, entering the right berm, snapping off a utility pole.
The car continued into a field coming to rest on its roof.
Members of the West Penn and Mahoning Valley fire companies worked to extricate the driver from the wreckage.
A request was made for a medical transport helicopter but was declined due to weather.
West Penn police traveled to the Arner airport in Mahoning Township, picking up the LifeFlight 6 crew transporting them back to the crash scene. West Penn police are investigating the incident.
