The Palmerton girls basketball team claimed its first District 11 championship since 1997 on Tuesday after defeating Executive Education Academy, 48-46.
The Blue Bombers clinched the Class 3A title when Pine Grove lost to MaST Community Charter in the other sub-regional semifinal.
Since MaST Community Charter is from District 1, the District 11 title belongs to Palmerton.
The Bombers (22-2) will play MaST Charter on Friday in the sub-regional final.
Palmerton’s victory also assured itself a berth in the upcoming state playoffs.
