March 2, 1962 - Jackie Morgan’s 28-point performance allows Jim Thorpe to edge Lansford 67-66 in the Black Diamond League championship game. The BDL title is the first for the Olympians, coached by Kenny Kline. Morgan scores 14 of his points in the opening quarter as the winners grab a six-point lead. He hits on six of seven shots from the floor in the second half to help Thorpe hang on for the win. Paul Hydro contributes 16 points, while George Armbruster adds 12. For the Panthers, Frank Bydlon finishes with a team-high 24 points.
