Pleasant Valley’s Merklin headed to Mansfield

Pleasant Valley’s recently signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and soccer careers at Mansfield University. Merklin was a 2021 EPC MVP and First Team selection, and was also selected to the 2021 Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association All State Girls Soccer team as a goalie. She helped the Bears win three EPC Mountain Division titles during her career, where she was a two-year captain. This past season, Merklin, who was the PV Defensive Player of the Year, made 308 saves (one penalty kick), and also scored four goals and had two assists. She broke the school’s career shutout record with 38, and had 10 this season. For her career, she finished with 11 goals scored, 10 assists and 643 saves. Merklin was a 2021 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference MVP and First Team all-star selection. She was also selected to the 2021 Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association All State Girls Soccer team as a goalie. She helped the Bears win three EPC Mountain Division titles during her career, where she was a two-year captain. This past season, Merklin made 308 saves in the Bears' goal. She also played occassionally in the field where she scored four goals and had two assists. She holds the school's career shutout record with 38, including 10 this season.
