Palmerton woman celebrates 100 years
She may be double the age that she was a half-century ago.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean Ann Feller feels her age.
A client at Liza’s House in Danielsville, Feller turned 100 years old on Feb. 2.
When asked how she felt after she reached the historic milestone, Feller offered a candid response.
“Not any different than I did when was I was 50,” Feller said.
On her birthday, Liza’s House celebrated Feller’s special day with her.
If that wasn’t enough, Feller’s family observed her birthday with her the following week.
“She had a really neat party here, had a lot of fun,” said Feller’s daughter, Nancy Treskot. “We got together as a family and all came here the following week, so she really celebrated for two weeks.”
Feller also has two granddaughters, Trisha Treskot and Gale Husack, along with three great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Palmerton, Feller attended Henry’s Academy after graduating from Palmerton. She then opened Ann’s Beauty Shop on Franklin Avenue in 1940.
Nancy said her mother lived in Palmerton her entire life until the age of 96.
“She (Feller) was really good about following all of (Nancy’s daughters’) sporting events,” she said. “To this day, my mom still watches basketball, football; she used to go bowling.”
Nancy said she and her family are grateful to still have Feller in their presence.
“I’m just happy that I still have her,” Nancy said. “Particularly during the last two years of COVID; that’s been really the hardest thing for her to adjust to.”
If her longevity is any indication, chances are Feller will continue to roll with the changes and topple any challenge that comes before her.
