Larry L. Arner, who is active in the Aquashicola Fire Department as a firefighter, officer and recycling coordinator, was named the company’s “Fireman of the Year” during an awards dinner recently.

The highlight was the presentation to Arner of the Warren E. Furry Memorial Award, which is given to a member of the company for “distinguished service to the department and the community.”

The award was announced by Rory Koons, fire chief, and Bill George, president.

Arner has been a volunteer with the company since 1970 and once served the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association for over 16 years.
