Pleasant Valley board makes personnel moves
The Pleasant Valley School Board approved filling the position of coordinator of child accounting at its meeting on Thursday. The position has been vacant.
School Board President Susan Kresge said current employee Lauren Nelson was selected for the position. She has been working for the district as an accounts payable bookkeeper, but that position will not be filled with anyone.
Nelson’s new position will pay $55,000 per year and will be prorated for the remainder of this school year, Kresge said.
The position was approved unanimously by the board.
Later in the meeting, Business Manager Michael Simonetta gave the human resources report because the school district does not currently have a director of human resources. The report listed:
Resignations: Tom Toth, director of Athletics and Activities, effective date to be determined; Christopher Curtis, PVHS, Student Government adviser, Class of 2025 adviser, assistant varsity track and field coach, effective Jan. 31; Randy Smale, maintenance technician, effective Feb. 4; Dawn Cottee, food service employee at PVES, effective Jan. 17.

Hiring of professional staff: Long-term substitute, Bethan Long, third-grade teacher at PVES; Corissa Cohen, first-grade teacher at PVES.
Change to current assignment: Michael Borger, maintenance technician promoted to head of maintenance replacing Randy Smale at $26.03 per hour; William Mingle, custodian at PVHS promoted to head custodian at PVES replacing Elvin Mercado at $20.84 per hour.
Hiring of support staff: food service employees: Denise Doering, PVES, replacing Dawn Cottee; Lynn Palmese, PVIS, replacing Lidia Osman (due to change of assignment); Abigail Rodriguez, PVMS, replacing Gabby Bentley (due to change of assignment), $12.20 per hour.
Hiring of support staff substitutes: Brianna DePaul, substitute food service employee, $10.14 per hour; Kyle Earling, substitute custodian and substitute courier, $10.38 per hour (custodian) and $9.15 per hour (courier).
Supplemental contracts: athletic - Michael Walters, baseball, junior high assistant; Scott Castone, baseball, junior varsity assistant; Ethan Miller, track and field, varsity assistant; Lauren Black, track and field, junior high assistant.
Supplemental contracts: athletic non-coaching - Ryan O’Keefe and Andrew Krock, substitute event workers; John Gesiskie, track and field, varsity judge and timer; Diane DeBarry, track and field, varsity and junior high judge; Dan Frable, softball, junior varsity score book/scorekeeper; Steve Krechel, softball, varsity score book/scorekeeper; Michael Ditty, softball, junior high score book/scorekeeper.
