Marian and Weatherly both posted wins in boys basketball action on Monday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Marian-R. Clemente

Marian outscored Roberto Clemente in the second half to pull out a 73-71 nonleague victory over Roberto Clemente.

The Colts, who trailed by seven points after the first quarter and by four at the break, used 11 second-half points from Julius Currie to help rally for the win.

Brendan Lonergan tallied a team-high 21 points for Marian, who improved to 13-7. Frank Valente added 19, including 10 in the fourth quarter, while Currie finished with 17. Logan Fritz chipped in with 10.

The Pirates (11-11) received 24 points from Christian Ceballos.

Minersville-Weatherly

Ricky Ray hit two free throws in the closing seconds to secure Weatherly’s 44-39 Schuylkill League victory over Minersville.

The win was the Wreckers’ first in the league this season and ended a 13-game losing streak.

Ray finished with a game-high 14 points, while Timmy Maguschak added nine and Ian McLaurin chipped in eight.

Weatherly is now 2-18. Minersville dropped to 2-20.
