This year, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is teaming up with Carbon County police departments to remind football fans and Super Bowl partygoers that designated drivers are the best defense against the dangers of drunken driving on Sunday.
If your Super Bowl celebration involves alcohol, plan for a ride home with a sober driver. If you’re hosting the party, take care of the designated drivers.
“We want our community members to enjoy Super Bowl festivities, but we also want responsible drivers on the road,” said Lehighton Police officer Joel Gulla, who also serves as Carbon County DUI Enforcement Coordinator for the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program. “If you are planning to be away from home during the Super Bowl, make a game plan to ensure you don’t find yourself without a designated driver if you need one. If you’re hosting a party, make sure you take care of your designated drivers.”
