Chorale sets 2 spring concerts

The Bach and Handel Chorale of Jim Thorpe is rehearsing again, getting ready for two upcoming spring concerts.

The first concert will be 4 p.m. on April 10, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the Heights, South Avenue, Jim Thorpe.

“The Palm Sunday concert will feature all Passion music,” Maestro and Conductor Randall D. Perry said. “This will be our first concert here, without being in a service.”

The music will include excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah” and an excerpt from Bach’s “Mass in B Minor,” and plus a cantata on The Seven Last Words of Christ composed by Perry.

The spring concert will be at 3 p.m. on May 21 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Race Street, Jim Thorpe.

“We’re not quite sure of the orchestra yet, it depends on the funding,” Perry said. “If we have the orchestra, we want to do a Bach Concerto for solo violin and oboe and orchestra. That all depends on if we have the money for the orchestra.”

The music for that concert will include selections from Bach and Handel; from Handel’s “Messiah,” Bach’s “Mass in B Minor” and others.

Information will be on the website, BHChorale.org.
