The new self-service state liquor store in Lehighton, located at South and Second streets, was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday, becoming the 378th self-service store in the state under the control of the Liquor Control Board.
The new layout allows patrons to go inside the store and browse the assortment of liquors, wines and other beverages, being distinctly opposite the former setup in which clerks would wait on customers and the stock of the store was not seen by the public.
Eventually, all 712 state stores will become self-service. The Lehighton store is managed by Edwin Miller of Mahanoy City.
