Bowmanstown Borough Council has tabled a decision about which streets should be shut down for this year’s Bike Night until next month’s meeting.
Resident Barry Pointon Jr. asked if the 500 block of Hamilton Street would once again be shut down.
In November, council in a 6 to 1 vote, with Councilwoman Kara Scott opposed, agreed to hold the event on Sept. 24.
Scott, who voted against the measure, said at that time she was not comfortable that the borough had to close down several streets to accommodate the event this year.
As part of last year’s event, it was decided to shut down Hamilton Street from Fireline Road to Lime Street, Lime Street from Ore Street to Green Street, Mill Street from Hamilton Street to Ore Street, and Ore Street from Mill Street to Lime Street.
Councilwoman Candace Rodrigues, organizer of the event, said last year’s event raised about $1,000.
Rodrigues said after last year’s event that the fire department would receive proceeds from what it raised, while the rest would go toward the community.
Hosted by Rodrigues Bike Event, Bike Night was held at the Bowmanstown Fire Company in September.
