Palmerton news for Jan. 13, 2022

Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin.

At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person in the sanctuary or Leah’s Room or in the parking lot by turning the radio to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Jan. 19 and 26 at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise service.

January’s Mission of the Month is Child Evangelism Fellowship of Carbon-Lehigh Counties. The mission is devoted to reaching children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The ABC Food Pantry is accepting food and monetary donations to help the community and members in need of food.

Micah’s Backpack Program is also collecting donations of individual cups of nonrefrigerated applesauce, pudding, gelatin and fruit cups. Also, individual microwave popcorn and ramen noodle soup (Maruchan brand only). The expiration date must be after May 2022.

This caring program helps feed the needy students of Palmerton Area School District.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold Sunday service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary.

You can also remain in your vehicle and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM or watch live on Facebook.

The service is also posted on the website after it has concluded. Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship service.

Starting Jan. 16, Sunday school will go in-person each Sunday during the 10 a.m. service.

Movie night will be held in the church sanctuary on Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. The movie will be “Breakthrough.”

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, is now holding Sunday worship at 9 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth Melber Jr. leads the service. Come and join in worship.

In case of bad weather, worshippers will be able to find out if services have been canceled through either email (make sure the office has your email address), Facebook, the church website or Channels 13 and 69 on your TV.

JELC

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, would like to remind those who ordered meal pies that the pickup dates are Jan. 17 and 18.

Pies can be picked up between noon and 2 p.m. on both dates.

Holy Trinity Lutheran

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship service on Sunday at 10:15 a.m.

If you plan to attend, call the church office at 610-826-2525. If you are unable to attend in person, you may join on Zoom.

A church council meeting will be held Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Bible study is held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Adult Education room.

Saturday morning yoga

For anyone interested in coming to Saturday morning yoga, please call ahead to reserve a spot. Space is limited and masks are optional.

Yoga is from 9 to 10 a.m. in the upstairs gallery of the Palmerton Area Library.

Please use the side entrance when coming to class.

Third Monday Book Club

The Third Monday Book Club will meet at the Palmerton Library Jan. 17 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. January’s book is “Silas Marner” by George Eliot. New members are always welcome.

February’s book will be “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held on Jan. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton.

Menu items include egg to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, tea and milk.

The breakfast is open to the public and is smoke-free.
