A house was destroyed after an early morning fire in Penn Forest Township.
A supervisor with the Carbon County Communications Center said a call was received at 10:27 a.m. for a working house fire at 279 Bear Creek Drive.
The supervisor said the fire was under control at 12:56 p.m. The State Police Fire Marshal from Hazleton is investigating. He was not available for comment.
A Facebook post by the Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company # 2 says “heavy fire was coming from the residence” and firefighters fought poor weather conditions during the fire.
Penn Forest Fire Chief Thomas Lynd was not reachable for comment. A call to the fire company was not returned.
Responding to the scene were the both Penn Forest fire companies, and firefighters from Lake Harmony, Jim Thorpe, Franklin Township, and Mahoning Valley Ambulance and Lehighton Ambulance. Fire police also responded.
