Palmerton’s basketball teams continued their winning ways as both Blue Bomber squads defeated Salisbury on Thursday.

Lehighton’s wrestling team also gained a win by defeating Pen Argyl.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Salisbury-Palmerton

Matt Machalik scored a game-high 22 points to help Palmerton earn a 54-37 Colonial League victory over Salisbury.

Machalik tallied 11 of his points in the first quarter as the Blue Bombers, who won their eighth straight game, jumped out to a 19-7 lead.

Brayden Hosier contributed 17 points to help Palmerton improve to 9-2 overall and 5-2 in the league.

For the Falcons, Chase Fenstermaker finished with a team-high 10 points.

Notre Dame remained undefeated in Colonial League play after rolling past Northern Lehigh, 69-19.

The Crusaders, led by Sean Howlett’s 17 points, are 5-0 in league play and 7-3 overall.

The winners, who held a 35-12 advantage by halftime, also received 13 points from Brendan Boyle.

Izaiah Ramos finished with a team-high 11 points for the Bulldogs, who dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the CL.

So. Lehigh-Northwestern

Southern Lehigh kept its undefeated Colonial League record intact by rebounding from an early deficit to defeat Northwestern 50-37.

The Tigers held a 13-10 lead after the first quarter, but the Spartans outscored the host team by a 32-15 margin in the middle frames to take control.

Max Pristas tallied 11 of his game-high 19 points in those two periods to help his team improve to 7-3 overall and 7-0 in the league.

Northwestern (4-3; 4-2) received a team-high 12 points from Dylan Witkowski, while Cayden Fitch hit three three-pointers to finish with nine.

Lehighton-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain hit nine three-pointers, and its defense shut down Lehighton in posting a 53-18 Schuylkill League victory.

Brogan Campbell hit three treys and finished with a game-high 13 points. The Eagles (6-2; 3-1) also received 11 points from both Kade Henninger and Branson Devitt.

The Indians (2-9; 0-4) received a team-high five points from Luke Blauch.

Tamaqua-North Schuylkill

North Schuylkill ended its four-game losing streak, and stopped Tamaqua’s three-game winning streak after edging the Blue Raiders, 59-56, in a Schuylkill League contest.

Jack Keiter and Luke Miller both scored 14 points for the Spartans, who held a 30-25 lead at halftime.

For the Blue Raiders, who dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the league, Steven Hoffman finished with a season-high 20 points. Connor Dillon reached double figures for the fifth straight game, ending with 13 points, while Nate Gregoire chipped in with nine.

Palmerton stayed perfect by cruising to a 65-25 Colonial League victory over Salisbury.

Nine different Blue Bombers reached the scoring column, led by Brianna Moore’s 12 points.

Raegan Nemeth collected 11 points as Palmerton upped its record to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the league. The winners also received nine points from both Sydney Frantz and Bethie Morgan.

For the Falcons, Desiree Nales posted a team-high seven points.

Notre Dame’s Raegan Cooper scored 11 of her team-high 16 points in the first half as the Crusaders built a lead and pulled away from Northern Lehigh for a 47-26 Colonial League victory.

Carly Campbell added seven of her nine points during the first two quarters as the winners gained a 22-13 halftime advantage.

The Bulldogs received a team-high 16 points from Emma Niebell.

The loss dropped Nolehi to 3-4 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Lehighton registered seven pins to record a 48-30 non-league victory over Pen Argyl.

The Indians received falls from Jacob Hall (106), Aiden Gruber (126), Nick Zeigenfus (132), Jacob Ferguson (145), Ethan Buchert (160) and Wyatt Scherer (215).

Hall’s pin came in just 19 seconds, while Gruber posted his fall in 27 seconds.

Brody Briener scored 13 points, including three three-pointers, to help Panther Valley gain a 47-41 win over Jim Thorpe.

The Panthers also received 11 points from Connor Penberth, while the Olympians were led by Cole Lazorick’s 14 points.

Lehighton-Blue Mountain

Blake Roberts scored 13 points to lead Lehighton to a 42-26 victory over Blue Mountain.

Cole Dietz hit four three-pointers to finish with 12 points, while Kieler Kemmerer chipped in with eight points.
