Palmerton native set to release his first Christian Rock single
A Palmerton native is on the verge of having his first Christian Rock single released.
Independent Christian Rock Musician Mr. Weaverface (Brendon Weaver) has announced “Jesus Is Alive” will be available for streaming or download on all major music platforms on Friday.
Weaver, a 1995 graduate of Palmerton Area High School, said “Jesus Is Alive” was recorded and mixed at TCLV Studios in Bethlehem, and talks about the power of Jesus Christ.
“I went through a spiritual warfare battle a couple of years ago,” Weaver said. “And only through the power of Jesus’ name and trusting in Him was I victorious.
“This song is an anthem recognizing that Jesus Christ is the name above all names, that He is alive and not dead, and that He still works miracles today.”
Weaver sings, and plays electric guitar and bass on the song. He is joined by drummer Kevin Soffera, former drummer of Breaking Benjamin, who recorded the drums at his own production studio, Hygrid Studios Pa.
“My musical style is heavily influenced from ’90s alternative rock, like Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots,” he said. “Jason Wegfahrt, the studio director at TCLV Studios, contacted Kevin thinking he would be a good fit for the song. We sent the song over to him and the drums he laid down was fantastic. He did an amazing job.”
Weaver’s musical background started at the age of 5 when he began taking piano lessons. He continued with classical piano training throughout high school.
After graduating high school, he learned guitar and began songwriting and performing at coffee house events at Elizabethtown College.
Weaver then moved to the Reading area, where he was lead singer and guitarist for two alternative rock bands in the early 2000s, Human Alloy and Mercy Nation, touring locally to play at venues such as The Silo, The Sterling Hotel and The Trocadero Theatre.
He was then called by the Lord to play guitar and sing for the worship team at Community Evangelical Church in Sinking Spring for the past 12 years.
“Playing guitar and singing for church is a blessing,” he said. “‘Jesus is Alive’ is one of the few Christian songs I’ve written recently. I believe God wants me to share them with the goal of leading people to Jesus.”
Professionally, Dr. Weaver is an optometrist at his private practice, Weaver Eye Care Associates in Bernville.
Weaver and his wife, Laura, have two daughters, Kaylee and Chloe.
