Woman faces additional charges in trespassing case

The Tamaqua woman found guilty of criminal trespass and defiant trespass in Schuylkill County Court will face 10 more counts of criminal trespass.

Judith Vacula waived her right to a preliminary hearing last Tuesday in Magistrate District Judge Stephen Bayer’s courtroom.

Tamaqua Police charged her with the aforementioned crimes from March 2. A letter was sent to Vacula March 3 saying she was not permitted on the property at 237 E. Broad St.

On five occasions after the letter was sent, she was allegedly on the property, according to an affidavit of probable cause. She went to the borough building Nov. 23 complaining she needs the building to not be condemned.

Water was delivered to the house and a generator provides heat and electricity.

Vacula is in Schuylkill County Prison after Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin sentenced her to 1 month to 23 months confinement. He granted her immediate parole after one month. Mental health treatment was ordered.

A jury found her guilty in October of criminal trespass and two counts of defiant trespass for a Feb. 3 incident. Tamaqua Police found her at the condemned property. She had previously been told not to go there.
