December 28, 1973 - Jim Trusa sets a new Panther Valley single-game scoring record with 44 points as the Panthers roll to an 87-58 victory over Mahanoy Area. Trusa breaks the mark of 42, which was established in 1971 by Pete Radocha. Trusa finishes 19-of-30 from the floor, and his 12 first-quarter points help PV jump out to a 22-9 advantage. Trusa collects 17 points in the final frame, including his last field goal with two seconds to play. The winners, coach by Phil Rader, also receive 24 points from John McLaughlin and nine from Don Nihen.
