Local Roundup: Results from Dec. 23
The Lehighton boys and girls basketball teams both registered wins over Pen Argyl on Thursday.
Also posting victories were the Pleasant Valley girls basketball team and the Northwestern wrestling squad.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lehighton-Pen Argyl
Mason Costenbader scored a game-high 22 points to lead Lehighton to its first win of the season, a 45-40 decision over Pen Argyl.
Costenbader tallied 10 of his points in the second quarter as the Indians (1-5) grabbed a nine-point halftime lead.
Brayden Lutz, who finished with 14 points, and Costenbader both went 3-for-4 at the foul line in the final frame to help secure the victory.
For the Green Knights, Damian Tyminski and Zachary Rudy both finished with nine points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Pen Argyl-Lehighton
Hailey Miller scored nine of her 17 points in the fourth quarter to help Lehighton earn a 41-37 nonleague win over Pen Argyl.
The contest was tied after three quarters, but the Indians went 9-of-11 at the free-throw line during the final period to key the victory.
Taylor Bowman added eight points for Lehighton, which improved its record to 3-2.
For the Green Knights, Jill Morro tallied a team-high 15 points.

Pleasant Valley-Allen
Pleasant Valley cruised to a 44-20 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Allen behind a big performance from Sam Merklin.
Merklin outscored the Canaries by pouring in a game-high 22 points.
The Bears (2-2), who built a 23-11 halftime lead, also received 11 points from Katelyn Honadel.

WRESTLING
No. Lehigh-Northwestern
Northwestern seniors Eli Dellicker and Nathan Peters both earned wins on Senior Night to help the Tigers gain a 39-24 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.
Dellicker earned a pin at 152, while Peters earned a decision win at 189 in the only bout that went the distance.
The winners also received falls from Lucas Miller (172) and Noah Schlofer (215).
Cody Mazzocca of Northern Lehigh recorded a fall at 120.
Northwestern also won the Junior High match by a 34-21 score.
