Fifty-five years ago, a group of community minded women got together to form the Nesquehoning Woman’s Club.
For over half a century, these devoted women have striven to make their community a better place to live and raise families.
From Safe Kids, a program to provide a safe haven for children who felt they were in jeopardy, to yearly health screenings for those in need of basic medical testing, the Nesquehoning Woman’s Club has provided services to their neighbors.
There were so many organizations that the club supported: fire companies and police, Boy and Girl Scouts, including Brownies, town functions such as block parties, parades, memorials, scholarships, town signs and cultural events including the production of the Nutcracker Ballet. With sadness, the membership has decided to dissolve the club. As its final act of altruism, the club donated its remaining funds to the Nesquehoning Historical Society and Meeds Memorial United Methodist Church.
