Tamaqua Borough Council President Dave Mace finished his tenure with the council on Tuesday night.
Mace was a part of council for 12 years and president for six.
“I went into seeking the office only from the perspective of using whatever abilities that I had for the benefit of the people of Tamaqua,” Mace said.
Mace was not voted back to council after November’s election.
During Tuesday’s meeting, Mace was acknowledged by his colleagues with a plaque.
“As I look back on the last 12 years, I still feel the same way. I was happy to serve the people of Tamaqua with whatever abilities I had,” Mace added.
“I thank the other members of council for recognizing that. I felt that I could look each one of them in the eyes with the notion that whatever I did, was for Tamaqua, and not for me personally.”
