Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Hired Michael Leighton as a part-time police officer at a starting salary of $19 per hour.

• Agreed to have a lien search done on the Gogal property.

• Appointed Donna Funk to a three-year term on the Slatington Public Library board of directors starting Jan. 1.
