Mask-wearing inside its buildings has returned to being optional for students in the Northern Lehigh School District.

The district posted on its website that on Friday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Commonwealth Court’s ruling that declared Acting Secretary of Health Beam’s order on face-coverings (masks) as invalid.

“Effective immediately, masks return to being optional, but encouraged, in all NLSD buildings,” the post reads. “Due to the federal order still in place, masks will continue to be required on NLSD transportation.”

The decision comes after the board once again heard concerns over the mask-wearing mandate at last week’s meeting.
