There’s no food shortage in Franklin Township.
At least not when there are nearly 15,000 cookies to account for.
A total of 14,400 cookies were baked and donated by volunteers to help raise funds for the Franklin Township Fire Company.
Members of the Franklin Township Fire Company Auxiliary kept active Friday morning at the fire company as they arranged the homemade cookie trays.
When all was said and done, the auxiliary sold 400 trays, with three dozen cookies per tray, made by 50-plus bakers, according to Chris Lilly, president of the auxiliary.
“It’s a lot of baking,” Lilly said. “It just keeps growing.”
Volunteer/auxiliary member Mary Schoenberger, of Franklin Township, said it’s well worth it.
“It’s a lot of work,” Schoenberger said. “It’s worth it for a good cause.”
Lilly said the trays consist of a variety of cookies, fudge, candy canes, chocolate kisses, pretzel kisses and caramel pretzels.
She said the cookies cost $14 per order, and were all preordered and can be picked up between noon to 3 p.m. today (Saturday) at the fire company.
Lilly said she’s extremely pleased with all the help the auxiliary received.
“It’s a great fundraiser,” she said. “Everybody has cooperated and stepped up.”
