Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vavro, Andreas, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 30.

They were married in SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, Tamaqua, by the late Rev. Stanley Luksys.

Mrs. Vavro is the former Anne Sestakauskas, daughter of the late Edward and Anna Sestakauskas of Tamaqua.

Her husband is a son of the late Method and Elizabeth Vavro of Andreas.

The couple has a son Jonathan, fiancé of Gina Provisiero, of Andreas.

To celebrate their golden anniversary, the Vavros took an 11-day trip to Alaska, visiting Anchorage, Valdez, Fairbanks and Denali.
