As the events of the Carbon Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees come to a close for the year 2021, the Christmas tree displayed in the Lehighton park celebrates the activities the group has participated in over the last year.
Besides decorating the tree, PASR members have been involved with many community supporting projects such as donated money and food to Carbon County food banks, helped the Keystone Military facility make care packages, provided toys and support for Toys for Tots, answered phones for the Cancer telethon, provided books for the small libraries in the area, and sold books to support the Lehighton library.
A senior event was held in September where flu shots were offered and a tour and explanation of the Carbon Environmental Center was provided. Several people went out to provide Christmas carols and cheer to shut in members.
The group is active and strives to live up to its mission to serve others in need and help one another enjoy retirement. Carbon PASR is grateful for the leadership provided by President Gloria Bowman this past year and looks forward to continued ventures under the leadership of the incoming president Molly Phillips.
