A deadlocked Panther Valley School Board failed to elect a president during what was supposed to be a reorganizational meeting Thursday night.
After receiving the resignation of board member Anthony Pondish, the directorate was left with eight members, resulting in a 4-4 deadlock among two factions of the board - Jeff and Michelle Markovich, David Hiles and Anthony DeMarco vs. Mickey Angst, Irene Genther, Koreen Nalesnik and Bill Hunsicker.
When the latter four left the meeting, the Markovich-Hiles-DeMarco faction voted to name Jeff Markovich president, but with fewer than half of the members present, the action was considered null and void.
