Trinity happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., 9:30 a.m., includes the Sunday Church School’s Christmas program: “Chrismons.” The contraction “Christ Monograms,” the variety of gold-on-white ornaments will be presented and explained accompanied with seasonal music. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, please continue to wear a mask over the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Sarah Moore assists.

Trinity Youth Group for students grades 7-12 are held each Sunday from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy some food and participate in seasonal activities with Vicar Sarah Moore, leader of the youth group for 2021-22. RSVP at smoore@uls.edu in advance. Include any food allergies or dietary restrictions in order to prepare an adequate amount and type of food. Check them out on Instagram: TELCYOUTHGROUP. Please enter and exit at the door on the parking lot side marked “Youth Room.” Volunteer opportunities are available for completing a weekly schedule for adult chaperone.

Weekly Sunday Church School classes begins at 10:45 a.m. for students ages 3 through sixth grade. Face masks are strongly encouraged for the protection of those attending. In addition, weekly catechetical classes for students in seventh and eighth grades take place at this time.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open for business without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place through 2021. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Christmas Eve schedule: 6 p.m. worship with family message from Vicar Sarah, Holy Communion with Pastor Moore presiding, and music provided by the praise band; 9 p.m. traditional candlelight worship with Pastor Moore presiding at Holy Communion, Vicar Sarah assists.

The new estimated date for refurbished steeple to be returned and reinstalled is to be during the week of Jan. 24, 2022.

Crime Watch

The Lehighton Community Neighborhood Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Lehighton Borough Municipal Building.

Bowmanstown Winterfest

The Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee will host Winterfest at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, 259 Lime St., Bowmanstown, from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday.

There will be free Christmas crafts for kids and adults (while supplies last), pictures with Santa Claus, a basket raffle and light refreshments. A portion of the proceeds from the basket raffle will be going to the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company.
