Weatherly Area School Board members attended a special meeting Tuesday to approve a five-year collective bargaining agreement between the School District and Weatherly Education Association. They did so with a unanimous vote of all of the attending members, 6-0. The contract will be effective from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2026.
Board member Matt vonFrisch said, “We’ve been working on this contract for a year.”
Member Brian O’Donnell, at his last meeting as a board member, said, “This board that negotiated (the contract) votes on it.”
The new agreement will go to the members of the Weatherly Education Association for a vote as early as Wednesday. After the meeting, teachers union President Peggy McAndrew said, “We feel like it’s a fair contract.”
The school board holds its voting meeting Dec. 8.
Details will not be released until after the union approves the contract.
