Schuylkill County Commissioners on Wednesday approved demolition contracts for properties in St. Clair, Shenandoah and East Union and Mahanoy townships.
Ron Zimmerman, grants manager, said the properties are blighted. A state grant the county received will pay for most of the demolitions, he said. A property at 500-503 E. Hancock St., St. Clair, will be torn down using Community Development Block Grant funds.
The following contracts were approved:
• $11,300 to Affordable Construction and Demolition LLC for 500, 501, 502, 503 E. Hancock St., St. Clair
• $55,444 to Dudash Pipeline Company Inc. for demolition of 931 Centre St., East Union Township
• $8,847 to Dudash Pipeline Company Inc. to demolish 16 W. Cranberry Ave., East Union Township
• $11,500 to MEI Demo and Excavation Inc. to demolish 7-9 Willow St., Mahanoy Township
• $48,500 to Affordable Construction and Demolition LLC, 138 N. White St., Shenandoah
• $66,462 to Kass’s Contracting to demolish 121 N. West St., Shenandoah
