Ensemble to perform in Schuylkill County

The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble continues its 32nd season with a concert that features masterpieces in chamber music for strings and guitar plus live flamenco dancing, as well as a world premiere by noted guitarist and composer, Rusty Banks. The concert takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven.

The ensemble will perform a string quartet by Mozart.

The ensemble will then be joined by flamenco dancer Evita Conti and conclude the concert with the Fandango Guitar Quintet No. 4 by Boccherini and Libertango by Astor Piazzolla.

The concert features the GCE Strings, Simon Maurer and Dana Allaband on violin, Agnès Mauer playing the viola, and Gerall Heiser playing cello, plus, guest artists Rusty Banks on guitar, and Evita Conti, dancer. Anthony Cecere will also make an appearance on French horn.

Tickets at the door are $20, adults, and $15, seniors. Children and students with IDs are admitted free.

GCE concerts are made possible through ticket sales, as well as corporate and private donations, including grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, and M&T Foundation.

The GCE is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to presenting high quality performances of chamber music repertoire.

It appeals to audiences with its informal and informative presentations which make prior knowledge of classical music unnecessary for appreciation and enjoyment at its concerts.

Professional guest artists are frequently invited to join the ensemble in order to offer audiences a wider selection of chamber music masterpieces.

In addition to its artistic achievements, GCE has initiated community and educational outreach programs to develop chamber music audiences and the musicians of the future.

To further its mission, the Ensemble took on the Schuylkill Youth Orchestra (now the Gabriel Youth Orchestra) to provide an opportunity for middle and high school students from throughout the region to play in a professionally managed and conducted setting.
