2021 general election: Only one school board race in Schuylkill area

Of the four school districts in the area, only one had a race for a four-year seat on the board of education. Here are the results:

Tamaqua Area

No race in the Tamaqua school district with four to be elected and four candidates gaining both party nods in the primary. The vote totals were Nancy J. Jones, 2,127; Bryan W. Miller, 2,048; Nicholas Boyle, 1,990; and Mark D. Rother, 1,994.

Blue Mountain

There were four seats up for the Blue Mountain district with six candidates.

The top four were Roy Heim, 2,952; Rosanne Zelusky, 2,820; Anne Usuka, 2,716; and Marie Riegel, 2,147. Finishing out of the running were Trish Kelly, 1,519; and Rebecca L. Hoover, 1,513. There were 2,226 write-in votes. The counting of write-in votes begins on Friday.

Mahanoy Area

No race in the Mahanoy Area district with four seats to fill and four candidates getting both nods in the spring. The vote was Karen E. Yedsena, 1,244; Steven Gnall, 1,120; John Honus, 1,121; and Jim Mitchell, 1,074.

Hazleton Area

In the Hazleton area district no races as four candidates got the four nominations, both parties, in the May primary. The order of finish was Linda De Cosmo, 895; Ed Shemansky, 889; Anthony Ryba, 863; and Gerald L. Feissner, 747. The totals represent only those votes cast in the McAdoo area, which is part of the Hazleton School District.
