Come Monday, vehicles found to be parked on sidewalks in Palmerton will be ticketed.
Councilwoman Holly Hausman-Sell offered the reminder at Thursday’s borough council meeting.
Hausman-Sell reiterated that as of Monday, the borough will begin to enforce the borough’s ordinance of vehicles parking on sidewalks.
“Especially on Delaware Avenue,” Hausman-Sell said.
Hausman-Sell noted “that is private property.”
“It does include curbs,” she said. “It’s part of the sidewalk.”
Hausman-Sell stated at last month’s council meeting that it’s illegal to do so because it damages properties.
However, Mayor William Gallagher said at that time the issue had not been enforced for years, and that he didn’t believe it would be right to just start citing vehicles without any fair warning.
Gallagher said at that time he believes there should be some sort of warning period, but agrees the vehicles should be cited over time.
Council agreed at that time that starting Nov. 1, tickets will be issued.
