State police at Frackville reported on three crashes investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County:
• A crash was reported at 12:39 a.m. on Oct. 19 along Route 309 in West Penn Township. Troopers said Benjamin K. Grant, 20, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion southbound, near the intersection with Golf Road, when a deer entered the road in front of him. The vehicle struck the deer with the front end causing disabling damages to the Ford. Grant was not injured. The Fusion was towed.
• The second crash occurred on Oct. 18 at 11:11 p.m. along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township, and was a hit-and-run. Troopers said a 2003 Hyundai Elantra was driven northbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car went onto the left berm and struck a guide rail. It then crossed the road and struck a guide rail on the right side. It then traveled back across the road and struck more guide rail, coming to rest blocking the left lane of travel.
When troopers arrived on scene, no one was with the vehicle.
• Another hit-and-run was reported at 12:43 a.m. on Oct. 18 along Silver Creek Road in Blythe Township. Troopers said a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee was southbound when the driver failed to maintain his lane of travel. The Jeep went onto the left berm, crashed into a utility pole with the front end. The driver then fled the scene on foot. The Jeep had to be towed.
