A 36-year-old Shenandoah man is wanted for the homicide Sunday in Mahanoy City.
Documents filed by State Police at Frackville appearing online in Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker’s office show Santonio Pierre Malone is charged with first and third-degree murder, four counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, possessing an instrument of crime and criminal attempt-criminal homicide for the incident. The case is listed as inactive.
State police identified the man killed as Juan Carlos Romero, 33, of Hazleton.
Alorfi Bladimir Ramirez, 29, of Hazle Township, was also shot and listed in serious condition at Reading Hospital, police said.
Mahanoy City Police responded to the Rmusic21 Lounge at E. Centre and S. Second St. at 2:50 a.m. to a disturbance outside. Upon arrival, the victims were found.
The disturbance may have started when the men were refused entrance to the business, State police said. The assailant shot Romero “multiple times” in the middle of Main Street,
Ramirez, who was kneeling behind his vehicle parked in front of the lounge after he got a gun from his vehicle, was then shot by the assailant, state police said.
Deputy Coroner David Truskowsky pronounced Romero dead at 3:32 a.m.
Mahanoy City Police, Humane Fire Co. and Mahanoy City Fire Police assisted state police.
The investigation continues.
