Bowmanstown group presents fall festival

The Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee will hold Fall Fest from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club.

There will be craft and direct sales vendors, concessions, music, basket raffle, activities for kids and a chili cook off, according to Brandy Kresge, committee co-founder and vendor coordinator.

Kresge said times for the events vary, with the chili cook off from noon to 2 p.m., and the basket raffle from 1-4 p.m. Money raised during this event will go back to various Bowmanstown community organizations.

“We saw that in Bowmanstown, there weren’t a lot of activities happening,” Kresge said. “We didn’t really have anything that was our own to bring light to our community, and what we have to offer.”

Kresge noted that during COVID, the group came up with a safe way to still have trick or treat as a trunk or treat, for the kids in town.

“From that, we decided we did this, why don’t we do more stuff like this,” she said. “Winterfest was born out of this, we had that last year.”

Kresge reiterated the importance behind offering activities for children all at no cost.

“We always try to strive to make sure that the kids’ activities are free at every activity that we do; that means a lot of to us, (events) for the children are at no cost.”

Kresge said that as part of the Fall Fest program, there will be a game station for kids to win prizes, completely free; a group from Palmerton Kids For the Community, who will be doing a pumpkin craft for children; bounce houses and bounce slides for kids to play on, all at no cost, also with appropriate hand-sanitizing stations.

Additionally, she said they just added trick or treat for the vendors in which the vendors will have a sign that says they are a treat station.

“They can enjoy a treat from each of the vendors; there are 20 that are participating,” she said. “Some are giving out candy, some are giving out toys.”

Kresge said what’s great about Fall Fest is that it features plenty of activities for kids to do, while also entertaining family at the same time.

“Parents can enjoy themselves with the basket raffle, vendors,” she said. “There’s really something for everyone, so that encourages the whole family to come out as a family and enjoy the event.”

Kresge said organizers hope the event proves successful.

“We’re hoping for a wonderful day, and to see everyone come out and enjoy themselves,” she said. “Check us out, visit our vendors, and have a great time.”

Kresge said anyone looking to get involved with a stand, donation or to volunteer their time to the event can reach out to eventsbfac@gmail.com.
