Local Roundup: results from Oct. 1
A tie between the Northwestern and Palmerton field hockey teams highlighted a rough day for area teams Friday.
FIELD HOCKEY
Palmerton-Northwestern
Palmerton and Northwestern played to a 2-2 draw in Colonial League action.
Sydney Frantz scored both Blue Bomber goals.
Daniella Lister and Brinley Rex had goals for the Tigers.
Northwestern is now 6-6-1, while Palmerton is 9-2-1.
So. Lehigh-No. Lehigh
Southern Lehigh beat Northern Lehigh 8-0 in a Colonial League game.
Bulldog goal keeper Kendall Heiney had 18 saves in the game.
Nolehi fell to 4-8, while Solehi improved to 11-0.
Pleasant Valley-Bangor
Bangor picked up a 2-0 non-league win over Pleasant Valley.
Reagan Heard and Emma Toth scored goals for the Slaters.
The loss dropped the Bears to 3-8.
BOYS SOCCER
Pleasant Valley-Nazareth
Nazareth beat Pleasant Valley 3-1 in and Eastern Pennsylvania Conference game.
Sebastian Puente, Salem Joseph and Alex Roberts scored goals for the Blue Eagles.
The Bears’ only goal was scored by Josh Haines. Pleasant Valley keeper Michael Meyers had three saves.
The loss drops the Bears to 7-3-1.
Salisbury-Lehighton
Salisbury beat Lehighton 2-1 in a nonleague game.
Alejandro Zuniga Garcia and Cameron Smith scored goals for the Falcons.
Nick Zeigenfuss scored the Indians’ goal with an assist from Matt Sofranko. Lehighton goal keeper Bryce Miller had five saves in the game.
The Indians are now 4-5-1.
Northern Lehigh-Bangor
Four different Bangor players scored goals in a 4-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.
The Slaters’ Nicholas McKoy, Gus O’Rourke, Hayden Burns and Max Culbertson all found the back of the net in the game.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 0-11.
GIRLS SOCCER
Minersville-Weatherly
Minersville received three goals from Grace LaPoint to help earn a 6-1 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.
The winners also received a pair of goals from Abby Stine.
For the Wreckers, Beth Houser posted a goal, and Emma Kane made 33 saves.
Weatherly is now 2-7.
