The Pleasant Valley School District’s present high school in Brodheadsville has about 100 more students than it was designed to serve.
This was announced at a meeting of the board by Martin Matula, principal, who told board members the state recommends a building serve about 90 percent of its capacity. He said the crowded conditions in the present school means every room in the building is being used nearly every period of the day.
The principal said he anticipates having to cut courses in industrial arts, home economics and business education next year because of the lack of room.
The district is the fastest growing district in the state, while most districts are losing students.
