Gov. Milton Shapp told more than 200 people at a Carbon County Democratic dinner rally last night he wants to go down as the governor of Pennsylvania “who brought senior citizens the benefits they richly deserve.”
Speaking at the Mahoning Valley Country Club, Shapp lauded his wife, Muriel, for what she has done in her many humanitarian projects, especially those in support of senior citizens.
The governor said he “will not sign any legislation that will betray the good people of Pennsylvania.”
Others addressing the assemblage were Thomas J. McCall, the party’s nominee for assemblyman, Congressman Dan Flood and Pittsburgh Mayor Peter Flaherty, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.
