Roger N. Nanovic, president Judge of the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas, announces his candidacy for retention on the Nov. 2 general election ballot.
Judge Nanovic, a lifelong resident of Carbon County, graduated in 1972 from the Palmerton Area High School, 1976 from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, and 1979 from the Dickinson Law School, Penn State University, in Carlisle.
He is the son of Roger N. Nanovic, Esquire, and Geraldine Nanovic of Palmerton.
Judge Nanovic and his wife, Cindy, daughter of Laura Getz and the late Luther Getz of Albrightsville, have been married for over 40 years. They are the proud parents of three children and five grandchildren.
Judge Nanovic has been a member of the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas for over 20 years, having first been sworn in as judge on Aug. 1, 2001, where he has served as President Judge for the past 17 years.
Prior to being elected to the bench in 2001, Judge Nanovic was in private practice for 22 years as a member of Nanovic Law Offices in Jim Thorpe, where he was engaged in the general practice of law with his father and brothers, Thomas and James Nanovic.
During his career, both in private practice and while on the bench, Judge Nanovic has handled a wide variety of cases involving civil, criminal, municipal and juvenile matters, and from 1992 to 1996 was Carbon County solicitor.
In addition to his experience and dedication to the law, together with a commitment to keep an open mind and apply the law faithfully and impartially to each case he hears, Judge Nanovic has at all times strived to treat the parties and counsel before him fairly and with respect, knowing that each case is important to the parties involved.
