Towamensing Township has shelved discussion on a residential garbage rate increase, at least for the time being.

Supervisors on Thursday tabled discussion on the topic, according to township secretary Jessica Ahner.

Residents did not see a hike in garbage fees this year, but commercial properties did.

Collection rates are $200 for a regular family; $130 for a senior citizens couple; and $110 for single senior citizens, according to this year’s township garbage and recycling letter.

Ahner said the last time the township raised the residential garbage rate was in 2016.
