Bowmanstown was among the many local municipalities that endured damage in the wake of last week’s rainstorm.
Councilman Darren Thomas described the recent flood damage at Tuesday’s borough council meeting caused by tropical depression Ida.
Thomas said “there was a considerable amount of damage” done to fencing around the borough’s wastewater treatment plant.
He noted they are still checking into all the damage.
“We’re still trying to tally the damage we incurred,” Thomas said. “This flood was worse than what we had in 2006.”
Grass clippings
Also on Tuesday, Councilwoman Pam Leiby stressed the importance for borough residents not to blow their grass clippings onto borough streets.
“It’s important for residents to not blow their grass in the streets,” Leiby said. “It’s dangerous for motorcycles, and is a violation of MS4.”
Council then asked borough secretary Tracy Burbage to contact Lower Towamensing Township in regards to the dumping of branches, twigs and debris along the Fireline Creek.
