A 24-year-old Coaldale woman was foaming at the mouth when police arrived to quell a disturbance in the borough Aug. 24.
Coaldale Police responded to the 100 block of Sixth Street for a disturbance call after receiving two calls on the incident. Upon arrival, multiple people were seen arguing.
Patrolman Frederick Lahovski told a man to go toward the police car.
Ciarra Moran, who police said was “jumping about, screaming at a person down the street and foaming from the mouth,” didn’t obey police to go toward the passenger side of the police car. Instead she moved toward the driver’s side but then moved “quickly across and down the street toward another person,” Lahovski said.
He then went to detain her, but she pulled away. Lahovski pulled her to the ground, arrested her, all the while she continued to resist screaming and attempting to get up, charging documents state.
Meanwhile, the first man and another one who were on a porch ran up to Lahovski, yelling and put a cellphone in his face.
When more police arrived, the situation was brought under control.
Moran is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct engaging in fighting and disorderly conduct hazardous/physical offenses.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:40 a.m. Sept. 21 in Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer’s office, Tamaqua.
