The West Penn Lions Club recently gave out monetary awards to local community civic groups as a way of giving back to those who help others.

A total of $4,850 was donated to these organizations.

The following organizations were given 2021 Community Awards/Grants:

• West Penn No. 1 Fire Co.: $1,000

• West Penn Township Community Park: $1,000

• Penn Mahoning Ambulance: $1,000

• Boy Scouts of America, Clamtown Troop 755: $350

• Salvation Army: $500

• Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center: $300

• Tamaqua Public Library: $500

• West Penn Community 4-H Club: $100

• Blondies Family Restaurant: $100 for always donating supplies for the club’s chicken barbecue.
